Vikram Rathour, India's batting coach, has supported senior batsman Virat Kohli to 'bat well and get huge runs' in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, which begins on Wednesday. Kohli, who has been struggling with his bat, scored 8, 18, and 0 in the ODIs against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.
"There were no specific discussions. He isn't going through a lean period, in my opinion. He's done incredibly well recently, at least in this format, T20s, and ODIs. According to what I've heard, he had a bad series against the West Indies. However, there were no real conversations."
"He's batting pretty well in the nets, and we're really pleased with the level of preparation he's been doing. So, no talks; I am confident that he will bat well and get huge runs in one of these innings (in the T20 series) "In a virtual news conference, Rathour added.
When asked if India had determined a batting style and structure ahead of the Men's T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, Rathour replied, "That is the primary objective. We are preparing for the World Cup to be held in Australia. The kind of batting we have, once we have our full team, unfortunately, we are dealing a little bit with injuries right now, so there are a few individuals missing out."
"It's difficult to determine what everyone's job will be until we have everyone available." That has been the focus so far. We've focused our efforts on Australia and have begun making preparations and planning. I don't think we'll have any problems with our batting order. In those situations, all of our batsmen are capable of batting well and performing well."
In T20Is, Rathour believes the experiment of opening with Rishabh Pant is still undetermined. "We haven't made up our minds yet." There are still a few days left. Yesterday was travel and rest day for us.
