Tokyo Olympics 2020: The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has "temporarily suspended" Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat for indiscipline during her recent Olympic Games campaign in Japan.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) banned star wrestler Vinesh Phogat for indiscipline. Vinesh has been sent with a notice by the federation on three charges, and she has until August 16 to respond.
Vinesh, who was eliminated from the Olympics after losing to Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus, refused to wear a wrestling singlet with the team sponsor's emblem and instead competed in a singlet with her personal sponsor Nike's logo.
Vinesh had voiced disappointment before the start of her Olympic campaign that she and other athletes would not be permitted to bring a physiotherapist with them to the Games. "Is it unethical to request one physiotherapist for four female wrestlers when one athlete may have numerous coaches/staff-" Last month, Vinesh sent out a tweet.
Vinesh, who had flown in from Hungary, was also "ruckus" when she was assigned a room near that of her Indian colleagues Sonam Malik, Anshu Malik, and Seema Bisla, according to news agency PTI. Because these wrestlers had traveled to Tokyo from India, Phogat suggested that she may contract COVID-19.
Vinesh was one of India's medal hopefuls at the Games events, however, she was defeated by Belarus' Kaladzinskaya in a striking setback.
According to sports news updates, Sonam Malik was also handed a misbehavior notice. She did not win a medal in her debut in the Olympic Games 2021.
