Vinicius Junior has confirmed his intentions to stay with Real Madrid, declaring: "I will continue with the biggest team in the world".
After joining from Flamengo for a reputed €46 million price in 2018, the winger initially struggled to make an impact. Vinicius, on the other hand, had a breakout season in 2021-22, scoring 22 goals in 52 games across all competitions, seven more than he had scored in 118 appearances for Los Blancos in his previous three seasons (15). In all competitions, the Brazil international also has the most goal involvements by LaLiga players born in 2000 or later (38 – 22 goals and 16 assists). Vinicius scored the game-winning goal in the Champions League final against Liverpool, but there have been rumours that he could be enticed by a move to PSG."I will continue in the biggest team in the world," the Madrid star said.
Vinicius will hope to team up with Neymar to help Brazil win the World Cup later this year. Vinicius, 21, appears to play in a similar manner to the PSG star, having attempted 234 dribbles in the 2021-22 LaLiga season, the highest by a Madrid player since 2005-06. Despite this, Vinicius still considers Neymar to be Brazil's best player as he learns to deal with the pressures of playing for the national team.
