The captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Mahmudullah has said that the batting execution of the group is a major worry in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021.
Bangladesh lost the second match of ICC Men's T20 World 2021 against Scotland National Cricket Team by 6 runs at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1) on Sunday, October 17th .
The Bangladesh hitters neglected to satisfy the hopes, and pursuing the objective, they had the option to score just 134 runs and lost the match. Presently Bangladesh is in a sink or swim circumstance in the following two Round 1 games as they need to dominate both the matches assuming they need to enter the Super 12s.
Mahmudullah told the media that it is wrong to say that Bangladesh is carrying a false sense of confidence after winning the home series against two giants of world cricket New Zealand and Australia. He stated:
-It-s wrong (to say that we were carrying any false sense of confidence). We were playing for those conditions (at home) and I think our batting (approach) was right for it (in the home series against Australia and New Zealand). We did score over 200 runs in a practice game (against Oman A) but today we failed to deliver,-
Further, Mahmudullah added that he is disappointed with the way the match had ended against Scotland. He said:
-Naturally I am disappointed and there is no reason why I shouldn-t be disappointed. We are concerned with our batting and we have to be better as a batting unit and furthermore, we have to play aggressive cricket because our batting is quite deep,-
Bangladesh skipper believes that the team was unable to fire in the powerplay overs, which led to them failing to complete the run chase. He asserted:
-What I feel is that we failed to score runs in the powerplay that we should have utilized. When you are chasing such a score you need to have runs [provided by] the top order. In the middle, Shakib and Mushfiqur did some recovery but we lost our way again.-
Mahmudullah signed off by saying they will play their -best cricket- in the upcoming games, and the team-s batting unit will have to make some improvements. He said:
-We couldn-t play our best cricket, and I feel if we could have played our best cricket, it would have been a different story and now we have to make sure that we play our best cricket in the upcoming fixtures. If we don-t rectify our mistakes (as a batting unit) and repeat it again, then it won-t bring us any good.-
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will next lock horns with co-hosts Oman on October 19.
