A 14-member West Indies team has been selected for the three-game ODI series against New Zealand that will start on August 17. The West Indies team includes Kevin Sinclair, a 22-year-old off-spinner who has yet to play in an ODI. West Indies' Chief Selector stated that they intended to increase the variety of players available for the series against New Zealand.
The chief selector, Desmond Haynes, stated that Sinclair has the ability and skills to perform well against the Kiwis. In the forthcoming series against Bangladesh A, Sinclair will play for the West Indies A team. Since making his debut in March 2021, the young player has participated in six T20Is.
“As we stated before, we are looking to broaden the pool of players and we have decided to give Sinclair an opportunity in the CG United ODI Series against New Zealand,” Haynes has quoted on the official website of West Indies Cricket. “He has been in the system for a while and was also in the ‘A Team’ to play against Bangladesh ‘A’ in the upcoming series. We believe with his calm approach and skills he will do well in the matches against New Zealand.”
