The Indian team has recently come under fire for being unmotivated during ICC competitions. What worries the majority of experts and even fans is that a team that dominates the majority of teams in bilateral encounters nonetheless fails to succeed at international events. The Men in Blue won the ODI World Cup in 2011, which marked India's last time winning a World Cup championship.
Despite the fact that India hasn't claimed an ICC championship since 2013, Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of the team and BCCI president, believes the Men in Blue have a chance to win the ODI World Cup at home this year. Ganguly believes that captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid should stick with the lineup that recently defeated Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home ahead of the major tournament.
“India can never be a weak team. A country that has so much talent can never be a weak team. Half of the players don't even get a chance. I would want Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and the selectors to hold on to the same team till the World Cup. When they reach the World Cup, they should play without any baggage. They should play fearless cricket, it doesn't matter if they win the trophy or not,” said Ganguly while talking to a sports show.
“The team which has Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami... Ravindra Jadeja will come back... can never be bad,” he added.
