Latest Cricket Highlights: On Wednesday, Ravichandran Ashwin delivered 2 overs and concluded his spell with 2/8 during India's 2021 T20 World Cup warm-up game against Australia.
The bowler displayed his strength in white-ball cricket as he took two wickets in two balls against the India v Australia warmup match.
This was the last warm-up game ahead of the Super 12 stage for India. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh fell prey to Ashwin in back-to-back deliveries tunning the rhythm for India. Australia could only make 152 runs in their 20 overs during the live cricket match.
The bowler didn't have much success in IPL 2021 playing for Delhi Capitals so it will be interesting if team officials and leadership picks him to play in the much-awaited India v Pakistan clash on 24th October.
Reportedly, experts predicted India to take two spinners in the playing XI. So who will it be Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar or Varun Chakaravarthy?
In the match against Australia, men in blue brought out all four spinners. Chahar ended with 1/17 from his 3 overs, while Jadeja gave up 35 runs in his 4 overs and took one wicket. On the other hand, Ashwin was on fire this time! In his 2 overs, his figures are 2/8 while Chakaravarthy came in the death overs, giving up 23 runs in 2 overs.
Ashwin caught Warner in front as the opponent opener tried to hit a reverse sweep. He then delivered a quick one and caused an outside off Marsh that got caught at first slip. Ashwin has accumulated 52 wickets in 46 live T20Is for India and was the squad's crucial selection until 2017.
Even though he was ignored for the 2019 ICC World Cup, Ashwin’s performances in IPL 2019 and 2020 seasons pulled him back for national selections. Talking about Test cricket, he has picked up 413 wickets in 79 matches. Despite being benched for most of the India England Test series, he remains a man winner in the format.
