Bruno Fernandes has remained tight-lipped on Man United's future plans, saying that'many things need to be corrected' at the club.
After being demolished by mid-table Brighton on the south coast on Saturday, United was officially thrown out of the Champions League competition. The 4-0 defeat also ensures that United will finish the season with their lowest point total in Premier League history.
Fernandes has been one of Man United's biggest disappointments this season, despite signing a new long-term contract in early April that will keep him at the club until 2026.
After United's humiliating defeat to the Seagulls, the Portugal international said that he had undertaken lengthy meetings with the club's hierarchy concerning the club's overall prospects before finally putting pen to paper after receiving assurances.
"I don't want to talk about the future," the midfielder told Sky Sports. "We still have one game this season and we have to win.
"I talked with the club about the future many times before I signed my contract because I think the future can be good, but obviously many things need to be fixed, as we have seen this season."
The 27-year-old also expressed his displeasure at Brighton's hammering, saying: "The result is what it is." It is insufficient. We were outplayed. They always came up with a solution. They pushed us harder, and they deserved to win.
"It's something that we have to look at and be embarrassed about because that was not good enough from us and we have to do much better."
