A 16-member squad has been announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, which begins on February 17. The team hopes to build on its recent success in the one-off Test and ODI series.
The three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) saw the formal release of the squad selection on Monday. The team is led by all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, and it includes both experienced players and up-and-coming talent in Charith Asalanka as his deputy.
Notable names on the selected team, which was authorized by Sports Minister Harin Fernando, include Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, and Angelo Mathews. Rising talents like Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana are also a part of the team.
Dushmantha Chameera, who is recuperating from an injury he incurred during the ODI series against Afghanistan, has been replaced by Binura Fernando.
