India captain Virat Kohli completed 100 Test catches on Day 2 of the ongoing third and final Test match against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town, adding another crown to his cap.
The 33-year-old made a total by grabbing a superb low catch in the slip of Temba Bavuma off Mohammed Shami's bowling.
Kohli also became the sixth Indian fielder to pick 100 or more catches in the longest format of the game, despite not being a wicket-keeper. In his 99th Test, India's captain set a record.
Rahul Dravid has 209 catches in 163 matches, VVS Laxman has 135 catches in 134 matches, Sachin Tendulkar has 115 catches in 200 matches, Sunil Gavaskar has 108 catches in 125 matches, and Mohammad Azharuddin has 105 catches in 99 matches. The Indian cricketers who make up this top list include Virat Kohli (100* catches in 99 matches).
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah grabbed his seventh five-wicket record, tying him with Kapil Dev and Irfan Pathan for the most by an Indian seamer after 27 Tests.
Three Indian bowlers have picked fifers at Cape Town: Harbhajan Singh (7/120 in 2010/11), S Sreesanth (5/114 in 2010/11), and J Bumrah (5/42 in 2021/22 *).
