India's hockey players got their Olympic medals in the 2021 Games after they won bronze by defeating Germany 5-4 on Thursday. Kerela and Indians all over the world were celebrating the Bronze medal win for the national men's hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics when the other Sree made a social media post congratulating P R Sreejesh in particular.
Indian cricketer Sreesanth, also from Kochi, made an emotional post on Facebook, which appealed to many sports fans in and around Kerala. He uploaded a picture of himself with a jersey on, but his credentials on the jersey were fading away.
The Facebook post read as, "My name is Fading away on t-shirts print but not in mind and body esp my soul -wants me to keep going. Need all ur blessings and wishes ..as always ..miles to go before I hang my boots. I'm never gonna give up."
According to a sports news report, Sreesanth said, "I am grateful to Sreejesh for bringing my name back. The saves which he made in the Bronze medal match were very motivating."
Sreejesh is the present goalkeeper of the Indian hockey men's team and contributed to the match against Germany, which earned his national side the Bronze medal. It was the first time in 41 years that the Indian hockey contingent had won a medal at the Olympics.
Sreesanth further mentioned dropping a message to Sreejesh and was waiting for a response from him. He also indicated that he is aware that Sreejesh might be busy with all the messages pouring in right now. Sreesanth also declared that if he hets an opportunity, he would like to have a chat with the Olympic winner. He wants Sreejesh, to maintain his shape to win the gold medal in the next Olympics, which is just three years away. The fast-bowler himself is 38 and has managed his fitness with hopes of making a comeback for the Indian national side. Earlier this year, he played for Kerala.
